4 Women from the TH Santa Clarita side of the Smurfs join Player/Coach (and Smurf) Dawn Lewis on Team USA in the Dominican Republic for the 2007 Pan Am Championships.
Representing TH Santa Clarita on Team USA will be left wing Jennie Choi, Circle Sarah Gascon and Goalie Jacque Messel. Circle Jennifer Farrell was selected as an alternate.
If Team USA finishes in the top four in the Pan Am Championships they qualify for the World Championships this year in France. The World Championships would be Team USA's last chance to qualify for the Olympics.
The team is in a tough group with Canada, a team that plays Team USA players regularly, emerging world power Brazil and a Paraguayan team that benefits from it's top players playing in the Brazilian professional leagues.
Team USA's preliminary games are:
Thursday 31 May Canada vs. USA
Friday 1 June Brazil vs. USA
Saturday 2 June Paraguay vs. USA
Congratulations Girls! Go for the Gold.
